作者簡介

尾關露絲（Ruth Ozeki）

　　1956年生於美國康乃迪克州的美日混血家庭，是電影製作人、小說家與禪宗講師。從麻州史密斯學院畢業後，她前往亞洲漫遊，之後進入奈良大學日本古典文學研究所。留日期間，她研究花藝、能劇，亦在京都產業大學教授英文。1985年返回美國，以美術指導身分進入紐約電影圈，之後開始拍攝紀錄片，《Body of Correspondence》及講述其祖母生平的《Halving the Bones》均廣受好評並獲眾多影展獎項肯定。90年代後期開始投入小說寫作，目前已著有三部長篇小說，前兩部作品《My Year of Meats》與《All Over Creation》分獲桐山環太平洋文學獎與美國圖書獎，《時光的彼岸》則入圍曼布克獎決選，並獲英國Kitschies文學獎與洛杉磯時報書卷獎年度小說。她於2010年成為禪宗講師，現為布魯克林禪學中心與每日禪基金會成員，目前主要居於加拿大英屬哥倫比亞和美國紐約市兩地。

She is the award-winning author of three novels, My Year of Meats, All Over Creation, and A Tale for the Time Being, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her critically acclaimed independent films, including Halving the Bones, have been screened at Sundance and aired on PBS. She is affiliated with the Brooklyn Zen Center and the Everyday Zen Foundation. She lives in British Columbia and New York City.
